Unlocking Benjamin
Our family's journey through unexpected circumstances

the weekend

Good news(at last!) We have seen a reduction in seizure activity for Ben. No entirely seizure free nights, but quite a few less seizures. We are very happy to see no patterns, and none of the ones the doc told me were life threatening. I am attributing this happy trend to dropping the Banzel dose. The interesting question now becomes(assuming this goodness continues) do we wean all the way off the Banzel, or do we FINALLY start whittling away at the stupid Keppra?  We need to decide by the 17th, but I suppose we’ll finally determine in by how Ben does the next several days.

We had a strange weekend. Megan had a headache Saturday morning that rapidly progressed to a migraine plus vomiting.  She rested for a while, and then was fine.  Nate had a sore throat on Friday, a cold Saturday, and a migraine of his own Saturday night. He was able to sleep it off, but put himself to bed at 8:00.  We all made it to church this morning, but we figure the kids had some kind of weird virus.  So aside from church we had a very quiet weekend.

Friday night Seattle Children’s genetics called.  The doc Ben is supposed to see may want to run a bunch of labs BEFORE he sees him, just to rule some things out.  What a novel approach!  Someone will call us Tuesday to schedule labs and make an appointment for late March. Apparently, Ben and I should just take a room at Children’s for the month of March…so far we have three appointments.

BTW-a huge thanks to my parents. Last Thursday I waved the white flag of surrender when I had to make numerous medical phone calls and compose that email to the dietitian.  My parents came over-mom cleaned the house and Dad ran Ben detail.  My Dad especially enjoyed learning all those signs! And yes, Dad, there will be a test!
